The James L. Smith Insurance Agency has been providing Insurance and Risk Management solutions for individuals, non-profit organizations, government entities and businesses in the Pittsburgh Area for fifty years.

The agency was started in 1961 by James L. Smith, Jr. Originally located in Green Tree, PA, the agency moved to Mt. Lebanon in 1983. Our agency is a full-service agency, handling all lines of insurance including property and casualty, life and health and disability.

Daniel P. Smith, President

In 1986, after receiving a B. A. from the University of Virginia, and a Masters degree from the College of Insurance, Dan Joined the agency as an outside salesman. In 1996 Dan took over management of the agency. Dan has experience in all facets of the insurance business and has worked on such projects as Heinz Field construction and Arizona Cardinal Stadium. Dan lives in Mt. Lebanon with his wife Margee and four children.

Shields "Skip" Mayhew, Director of Marketing

Skip has been in the insurance business since graduating from West Virginia University. Skip handles all the placement of the agency's commercial business. Skip began his career with the Travelers. He has worked for several companies and insurance agencies before coming to the Smith Agency in 1996. Skip resides in Chester, WV.

Matthew Smith, Outside Sales

Matt started his insurance career in 2005. He specializes in commercial business and Life and Health. Matt graduated from Villanova University in 1996 and received a J. D. from Duquesne University in 2000. Matt lives in Mt. Lebanon with his wife Erin and two children.

Mark Tambellini, Outside Sales

Mark entered the insurance business in 1980 after graduating with a B.S. business degree from Penn State Univ. Once Mark studied the technical side of insurance as an underwriter for 4 years with Maryland Casualty, Mark became an independent insurance broker in 1984. Mark joined the agency in 2000. He handles all lines of business including property and casualty and life and health.
